Google Analytics Goal Setup (Basic)
Our basic Google Analytics (GA) goal setup is limited to one of the following goal types:
Destination Goal - For example, after completing a contact form on your website, the visitor is taken to an exisiting "thank you page"
Duration Goal: For example, you define how much time (session length) a visitor spends on a page or watching a video on your site.
Pages/screens per session Goal: The number of pages visited by one person (per session) is usually a good indicator of engagement. This may be a highly relevant goal if your website is mainly focused on getting clicks.
You can & should use Google Analytics (GA) goals to measure how often and how effectively your website fulfills your target objectives.
When one of the objectives you target is completed, it is called a conversion. For example, if your goal is lead generation, a conversion happens when someone submits a form from your website that provides you with their contact information.
Without properly set up goals it will be very difficult for you to measure the effectiveness of your online marketing campaigns.
